2009 Tastings & Events
We provide a unique consumer experience in an educational and fun setting with our weekly and monthly special events. Westport Whiskey & Wine has both a retail package license and a bar license under the same roof. Dual licensure allows us to offer tastings for a nominal fee.
Every Thursday is our popular Open Bottle Night featuring the Thursday Special — buy 3 bottles of the featured selections, and receive a 10% discount.
Every Saturday afternoon from 1 to 5pm, come see what Andrew, Jon or Seth has pulled out to taste. For $2 you can find a great new wine, maybe a whiskey or some other libation.

Wednesday, 26 Aug – 7 to 8 – Whiskey Wednesday – Jim Rutledge, Master Distiller of Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY will conduct a tasting of Four Roses bourbons. Also, he hopes to debut his 2009 Mariage bourbon. This is limited to 24 people so, book your seat soon. The cost is $20 or $15 for Tasting Club Members.
Thursday, 27 Aug – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Open Bottle Night Wine Tasting features wines from local distributor Bacchus Wines. Steven Rountree of Bacchus will offer a selection of wines from his favorite wineries. Along with the wine a selection of cheeses will be served. At $10 per person, this is a great way to spend your Thursday evening.

Tuesday, 1 Sept – 7 to 8 pm – Tequila Tuesday featuring a comparison tasting of blanco, plata & silver tequila. This is a limited seating tasting class that will focus on the differences in style & tastes. The cost is only $15 or $10 for Tasting Club members.
Thursday, 3 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 –Open Bottle Night Wine Tasting will feature wines selected by our staff, from fresh whites to celebrate the Labor Day holiday, to big chewy reds to compliment whatever will be on the grill. Oh, there might be a beer or spirit as well. A sampling of cheeses & breads is included for the cost of $10 per person.
Friday, 4 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 – First Friday Beer Tasting Kelly has been working on this tasting for weeks, she has a selection of great beers to celebrate Oktoberfest. Strap on your Lederhosen & ompah your way into the tasting room for a great tasting. Snacks from Robert Rothschild Farms will be included for only $5.
Wednesday, 9 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – It’s Cowgirl Night at Women’s Only Wednesday! Grab your boots, your cowgirl hats, whatever helps get your wild west on & come & taste the new Masked Rider line of wines. (Please leave your whips & spurs at home!) Everyone dressed in Cowgirl attire will earn a 10% discount on their purchases for the evening! Chair massages will be provided by elements therapeutic massage will whip you back into form. Snacks by Rootin’ Tootin’ Robert Rothschild Farms. And as always an extra surprise or two. Come see who will be in chaps! Bring your friends or plan to make new ones. Only $5.
Thursday, 10 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Second Thursday Open Bottle Night Wine Tasting sponsored by J Alexander’s will feature pinots. The spectrum from pinot gris & grigio to pinot noir from around the globe. Also, we will be helping to raise money for The Ride To Victory to benefit Norton’s Cancer Institute. Come & support local rider, Michael “Mad Wolverine” Winn, who will be out front “pedaling” on his bike to build support for the ride. Food, wine & fun, a great value at $10.
Friday, 11 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 – Acres of Land Winery – Lowel Land & Tina Orr will be presenting their line of wines made in Richmond, Kentucky. This will be a great opportunity to taste some award winning Kentucky wines. Snacks from Robert Rothschild Farms. Only $5.
Saturday, 12 Sept – 5:30 – 7:30 pm – Second Saturday Staff Selections – We will have a great selection of new wines that each member of our staff has staked their wine reputations on! Come & see what they have picked out & vote with your glass as to who picked the customer favorite! Bragging rights are on the line & they want to win! This will be a $5 tasting.
Tuesday, 15 Sept – 7 to 8 pm – Big Reds Wine Tasting featuring wines from the portfolio of Maison Marques Importers with Roland Hermann. We will have some great wines from around the globe & this tasting sells out quickly as the seating is limited. The cost is $30 or $25 for Tasting Club members.
Wednesday, 16 Sept – 7 to 8 pm – Meet the Winemaker & Owner of Bookwalter Winery. Located in the Heart of the Columbia Valley, Bookwalter Winery has been producing small lots of high quality wine since 1983. John Bookwalter will be here to conduct a tasting of lush red and vibrant white wines from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. The cost is still only $20 or $15 for Tasting Club members.
Thursday, 17 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Open Bottle Night Wine Tasting welcomes back Kate Cannon of Toast of Kentucky who will offer a selection of celestial wines from Starry Night Winery to some of the hottest pinot noirs available. Cheeses will be served, too. A great evening for only $10.
Wednesday, 23 Sept – 7 to 8 – Whiskey Wednesday – Albert Schmid, Director of the Beverage Management program of Sullivan University will conduct a tasting of whiskies from around the world. This will be a great opportunity to taste the influence of place has on whiskey. The cost is $20 or $15 for Tasting Club Members.
Thursday, 24 Sept – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Open Bottle Night Wine Tasting features wines from Justin Vineyards & Neyers Winery. It will be a great selection of the wines from Paso Robles to Napa’s Howell Mountain. This is one of those tastings that should not be missed! Along with the wine a selection of cheeses will be served. At $10 per person, this is a great way to spend your Thursday evening.
Tuesday, 29 Sept – 7 to 8 pm – Meet the Winemaker & Owner of Coniglio Winery, Charles Coniglio. This one is for lovers of cabernet sauvignon as Coniglio’s goal is to deliver unique, artisan style wines that distinguish & define the best growing regions in the Napa Valley. This is the first time these wines will have been offered in Louisville & it is a rare opportunity to secure some great wines. Reservations are required. The cost is $30 or $25 for Tasting Club members.
Saturday, 5 Sept – 2 to 5 – Sidewalk Sale Tasting – Westport Village is having a Sidewalk Sale & we thought we would offer a tasting of wine & beer to either ease the stress of so many great deals or to prime the pump to help you shop to you drop. Great values in both red & white wines & cold beers at great prices, for only $5.
